FIRST Tech Challenge

The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a mid-level robotics competition for high-school students. It offers the traditional challenge of a FIRST Robotics Competition but with a more accessible and affordable Tetrix robotics kit. The ultimate goal of FTC is to reach more young people with a lower-cost, more accessible opportunity to discover the excitement and rewards of science, technology, and engineering.

The Oregon Robotics Tournament and Outreach program is the Affiliate Partner for FTC in Oregon. ORTOP implements the program by encouraging team formation, providing adult training workshops and organizing scrimmages and a state championship tournament.

FTC Teams are made up of young people from 14 - 18 years old,
9th - 12th Grade*

*May include 8th grade students 13 and older who are prepared to enter a high-school program.
Teams can be organized at schools, at clubs or troops, or in neighborhoods. The main requirement is that an adult take the responsibility for registering a team and scheduling their meetings. New coaches are encouraged to attend free workshops and to review information on the ORTOP website and the national FTC website
